ON CONTEMPORARY AMERICA (A Brief Essay) by John Lars Zwerenz

ON CONTEMPORARY AMERICA
A Brief Essay by John Lars Zwerenz
In this pivotal political year of 2014, when The United States of America is at the crossroads of deciding its own destiny, as well as the destiny of modern civilization, we as American citizens must awake to the fact that our Republic is in a state of rapid decline. The liberal ideals of the late 1960's, born out of what was rightly perceived as "Anti-Americanism" in the 1920's has permeated the American media and our mass culture to the point of saturation and exclusive uniformity.
The American culture, now more than ever, influenced by what is permitted and praised as good by the media and our Federal and State governments that which is in reality pernicious has deteriorated to a such an extreme degree that every United States citizen, regardless of his or her political ideology should be awoken and alarmed. This nation, along with its original sin of slavery and its imprudent exaggeration of man's abilities to fulfill his own destiny without the aid of God, born out of The Enlightenment, was nonetheless conceived in greatness.
Our Republic's potential for greatness which The Founders encapsulated so eloquently in The Constitution has yet to be realized for the Country as a whole. Despite this nation's status as the world's leading "superpower", the decay in our morality, both private and collective is frantically eroding the Judeo-Christian values which knitted, nourished and solidified our people and the dictates and laws of this gifted and vast land for over two hundred years.
The daily scourge of abortion, an abominable crime, is tearing and rending the soul of our nation and its many victims who are almost always left profoundly scarred for life because of the gravity of this particularly malevolent crime. The recent passing of laws which institutionalize sexual perversity as the norm have already shaken the elementary foundation of our Country's more "progressive States".
Our moral infrastructure is collapsing. Our standards of living are no longer the envy of the world. Ancient Greece perished very soon after they indulged in perverse living and strange rituals. Very soon after ancient Rome declared postpartum killings lawful their empire was destroyed from within, leaving The Vandals to march freely into the boot of Italy unopposed. And if or when this once great nation should die, it shall die as a result of interior moral decomposition, not from the aggression of a foreign power.
God must be recognized as not only The Deity that created, saved and guides us, but as the primary source of our collective wisdom as a Constitutional Republic which was founded with a profound awareness of His providential design and objective morality.
For morality does not bend towards man, rather we must deny ourselves of our subjective pursuits of pleasure and selfishness, calling what is good evil, and what is evil good.
